Norman Lamb MP welcomes 100th youngster to the North Walsham Kickz project
On Saturday evening North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb welcomed Liam Currie the 100th youngster to the Football in the Community social inclusion programme Kickz.
Since its launch in October last year Mr Lamb has been a key supporter of the Kickz project. During the evening Mr Lamb met the youngsters benefiting from the scheme, along with taking the opportunity to meet the coaches and volunteers to discuss the development of the scheme to date and Football in the Community's future plans for the initiative.
Kickz is a project targeted at engaging youngster's aged 13 - 19 within their local community, with the aim of steering them away from the perils of anti-social behaviour and crime. Kickz uses activities such as football, basketball and educational workshops tackling health issues and the dangers of falling into petty crime. Football in the Community is the largest provider of Kickz projects outside of London with five programmes currently being delivered across Norfolk.
Gavin Coe, partnership development manager for Football in the Community, said: "I am delighted the project has attracted the support of local MP's, their support is invaluable as it ensures the security and sustainability of the project. I was delighted Mr Lamb visited this incredibly successful initiative"
