FITC Summer Cup Huge Sucess

THIS year's FITC Summer Cup was an excellent success, with 193 teams of youngsters taking part.
14 pitches hosted 1,600 children at Heartsease High School, with ages ranging from six to fourteen. Approximately 2,500 family members supported the children, resulting in a fantastic atmosphere for a great weekend of football.

Director of FITC, Ian Thornton, saw plenty of future potential: "We are confident we have found players, both boys and girls, who will either join our Advanced Player Development Centres situated around the county or attend one of our many Community based coaching iniatives in their local community.

"This is the 9th year we have been running the FITC Summer Cup. We like to organise a tournament that is well organised and one that everyone strives to attend and enjoy. This year to see 193 teams and in the region of 4,500 people attend over two days takes alot of organising and planning. Full credit goes to the FITC Staff both full-time and part-time who volunteer their time to make the event what it is."

Excellent feedback was received from both players and parents, commenting on how pleased they were that Norwich City take the time to organise such a wonderful events. In particular thanks to all FITC who volunteered their time to set up, referee and pack down.

Community Ambassador Jeremy Goss, who attended on the day, commented: "Having attended the event on the Saturday it was incredible to see hundreds of young people both boys and girls taking part, having fun and experiencing the thrill of playing football.

"Well done to all the coaches associated with FITC who worked hard to run the two days to such a high standard. It is their dedication, enthusiasm and professional conduct which really made this years Summer Cup 2008 a fantastic success."
