FITC Boys PDC Update
During the recent February half-term break the Football in the Community Boys Advanced Programme saw players from U8-U15 take part in an extremely active week with a full fixture programme.
At the start of the week our selected U9/U10/U11 squad had the opportunity to use the Academy facilities at Colney before taking on their Academy counterparts the following day. These games are extremely useful for the players involved to play against Norwich City's current crop of young talent in competitive matches and seeing the benchmark that is set at the highest standard for players in the Player Development Centre to strive to achieve.
Towards the end of a busy week we hosted matches for all our current age groups against representative teams from Southend Utd and Luton Town. All the games were closely fought, played in the correct spirit and was a terrific advert for youth football.
Players selected for these fixtures will attend coaching sessions once a week at their local PDC venue. The players will work on all technical aspects of their game over 12 week period and will then be given a written report on their progress. The inclusion into the PDC is on a strictly invitational basis only to ensure that the best players in the local area are having the opportunity to receive a high standard of coaching whilst having their progress monitored.
Being in the PDC also gives the players opportunities to perform at Colney over the course of the season in matches against the Academy as well as during Internal Matches against players from other Centres across the County.
Football in the Community currently see over 500 boys in the PDC program and run centres in Norwich, Kings Lynn, Wymondham, Watton, Lowestoft, Gorleston and Cromer as well as a specific goalkeeping centre in Norwich.
