Norwich City Girls Centre of Excellence Tour 2009

The Norwich City Girls Centre of Excellence has just returned from their annual tour, which this year took place in Nottingham.

All four age groups, comprising of 52 girls aged 8 - 16 travelled to CenterParcs in Sherwood Forest and stayed in accommodation on site.  For some of the girls this was their first experience away from home and with their teammates.  It also gave them experience preparing their own meals; making their own beds and even washing up!

The girls were given plenty of opportunity over the weekend to use the excellent facilities on offer at CenterParcs, which included Swimming, and there was even time for their very own Easter Egg Hunt.

All four age groups played against opposition from Crewe, Hull and Greater Manchester.  There were mixed results for the squads with the U10's drawing one and winning two which ncluded them finishing their tour off in style against Greater Manchester and coming out on top of a 9 goal thriller!

The U12's also made a good account, losing their first game by the narrowest of margins, before finishing strong and winning their two remaining fixtures.

The U14's had a tough time and whilst they didn't actually win they too narrowly lost their first two fixtures before drawing their final game.

The U16's had a difficulties in terms of injuries but still managed to come away with a draw, win and loss out of their three fixtures.

There was even time for the girls to stop off at Alton Towers and persuade some of the nervous coaches to tackle the water rapids and the fastest roller coaster in England.

A big thank you must go to the coaches and staff that were involved in the tour, as they helped make it a smooth and enjoyable experience for all the girls.
